Macau Urban Renewal Limited (MUR) noticed that false information about Macau New Neighbourhood (MNN) project in Hengqin was circulating on social media, with real estate agents posing as MUR representatives and advertised other real estate projects in Hengqin, which could mislead the public.

MUR strongly condemns such actions and reserves the right to take legal actions as a result. MUR urges residents to be more aware and cautious to avoid being scammed.

MUR recently noticed that real estate agencies were using MNN on different Facebook pages and WeChat accounts to attract netizens to leave comments and private messages in order to receive more details. When citizens were in contact with the real estate agents, the agents would keep spreading all sorts of false information, such as the Home Ownership Scheme (HOS) flat owners are not eligible to purchase an MNN flat. All the information provided by those agents bears no relation to MNN nor is it consistent with the facts about MNN. The agents would then use the chance to tell people the pricing of other real estate projects, floor plans, number of flats available for sale, and even claiming that MUR is those projects’ contractor and responsible for property management, misleading citizens to buy their flats.

In addition, MUR found that a real estate company had opened a social media page under the name “Macau New Neighbourhood” to cause confusions among the public. Some netizens had also posted false information about the presale details of MNN flats on social media. MUR is keeping a close eye on the dissemination of false information and strongly condemns the action of spreading misinformation. MUR reserves the right to take legal proceedings, and would like to remind the public that spreading false information may constitute a criminal offence.

Currently, MUR is progressively pushing forward with the MNN project, where project planning and the pre-drilling works for soil investigation have been completed. While follow-up works on the tendering process are set to take place gradually, the sales period for MNN flats has never been announced. The public should refer to MUR press releases and details and the progress of MNN on MUR’s official website’s “Projects” section (https://www.mur.com.mo/macau_new_neighborhood), and avoid becoming a victim of fraud.

The MNN project covers a land area of about 190,000 square metres. The project has 27 residential towers providing about 4,000 fitted-out residential units. The project will have educational and medical facilities, as well as service centres for senior citizens and families. Upon the completion of the construction of the auxiliary facilities, they would be passed onto the SAR Government’s appointed operator. The operation of these facilities will follow Macau’s standards.

Besides releasing press releases, MUR will be opening multi-media channels, among them, our WeChat official account will be introduced this month, in keeping with the company’s high levels of transparency where the public can gain a better understanding of the latest progress of the company’s projects.
