Hot Off the Press: Iao Hon Estate has been around for 50 years and has footprints left behind by generations of people. The newly published research study unveils the mysteries of the estate. The long-awaited redevelopment of the estate is backed by a majority of the property owners interviewed, while some of them are holding a wait-and-see attitude.
The “Macau New Neighborhood” (MNN) project in Hengqin will provide about 4,000 fitted-out residential units and will have retail shops, transport facilities, as well as medical and community service centres among others. The project is expected to be completed in 2023. The layout design of the project takes full advantage of the natural landscape being surrounded by a river with a mountain.
Face-to-face household interviews in Iao Hon Estate has been carried out for over a month. As of mid-August 2020, Macau Urban Renewal Limited (MUR) has interviewed nearly 70 percent of the households, and at the same time has been contacted by some of the property owners who would like to meet us to discuss details on redevelopment.
In April 2020, Macau Urban Renewal Limited (MUR) and the Natural Resources Bureau of the Zhuhai Municipal Government signed an agreement for the transfer use of the land lot for the Macau New Neighbourhood (MNN) project, and MUR subsequently transferred the land use rights to the project company. MUR also signed a project financing agreement with the Bank of China Macau Branch.
